What is an EU Battery Passport?
An EU Battery Passport is a digital product record required under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. It stores mandatory battery data (identity, chemistry, carbon footprint, compliance evidence, and more) and makes the public fields available via a QR code on the battery.
When does the Battery Passport mandate take effect?
Key passport obligations for in-scope batteries begin on February 18, 2027. Manufacturers and importers placing batteries on the EU market should have compliant passport systems operating before that date.
Which battery categories does PassCell support?
PassCell supports LMT (e-bikes, scooters, and light means of transport), EV propulsion batteries, and Industrial systems (including BESS and motive power). Category-specific Annex XIII fields are built into the Create Passport workflow.
What data is required for a compliant passport?
Required fields follow Annex XIII / DIN SPEC 99100-aligned capture: unique battery identifier, manufacturer details, chemistry and materials, performance metrics, carbon footprint class, and category-specific technical attributes. PassCell validates mandatory fields before ledger commit.
How do QR codes work on PassCell?
Each passport gets a unique serial and public URL. The QR sticker resolves to the live registry record so scanners always see the latest status (active, amended, or recalled)—not a static snapshot.
What are the Pilot and Growth plan limits?
Pilot is built for small-batch manufacturers (500 passports/month at $199/mo). Growth supports higher volume exporters (5,000 passports/month at $399/mo) with bulk CSV and API access. Enterprise is sales-led for larger programs.
Can I import many passports at once?
Yes on Growth and Enterprise. Use Bulk Ingest with the DIN SPEC 99100 CSV template (one passport per row). Pilot is oriented toward individual Create Passport commits.
Is public passport scanning tracked?
Public passport pages are designed as read-only regulatory disclosures without device fingerprinting, location logging, or analytics beacons at the point of scan. See the Legal & Privacy page for the full privacy statement.
How do I print a passport sticker?
From the dashboard Passports table, open Sticker on a record. You can print the QR sticker or download a PNG for your label workflow.
